ACT LOCALLY!
Get involved in your community Washington CAN! chapter
The core of Washington CAN! is our membership. Our members are devoted activists with the inspiration and know how to create change in their communities. In the most popular areas of our membership, we have locally led Community Action Teams, or C.A.T.’s.
These Washington CAN! teams meet frequently, about once a month, to learn more about the issues, learn campaign skills, connect with elected officials, plan events, and keep their communities informed.
Ellen Dewey, Chair of the Snohomish County C.A.T. and Washington CAN! member since 1987 comments, “Since founding my local CAT, I’ve been given the tools I need to be effective in my advocacy efforts. I’ve been involved in press conferences, rallies, and testimonies before the legislature. Each of these opportunities has given me a sense of empowerment. I can be involved in change for our state and its citizens. Each opportunity also gives me a clearer picture of the issues that are important to me and how I can be involved in enacting change.”
