On January 14th, the legislature will come back together to make critical decisions about the future of our state. We’re facing yet another budget deficit, as well as a newly-controlled Republican Senate that is set on not raising any new revenue.
It’s going to take all of us standing together to protect the things we care about: education, health care, a just economy, equal opportunity. That’s why on Martin Luther King Day, Washington CAN! will head to Olympia to demand the legislature raise revenue and protect the programs that keep our communities healthy and strong.

We’ll be celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. by bringing our voices down to the capitol and standing up for racial and economic justice. The day will include trainings, meetings with legislators and an action promoting racial equity that will set the tone for the rest of the legislative session.
It’s time for an economy that works for everyone, not just corporations and the wealthy. By sharing your story with legislators we can help get our state back on the right track.
In the words of Dr. King:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
