Volunteer
people like you bend the arc toward justice.
Dr. Martin Luther King said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." We believe that it takes a large, grassroots movement of people to bend the arc toward justice, and that includes people like you taking action.
Our Volunteer Opportunities
-
Whether it's knocking doors, collecting signatures, or helping folks get to the ballot box, our outreach volunteers are on the frontlines of people power. You’ll have the opportunity to help with phone-banking, text-banking, get-out-the-vote efforts, and petition gathering — all the work that brings our campaigns to life, person by person.
-
Our events make organizing visible, joyful, and powerful — and we need help behind the scenes to make it happen. From transportation support and crowd safety to planning, setup, and outreach, this team helps bring rallies, forums, and cultural events to life. Like all of our options, no experience needed, just good energy and a willingness to build with us!
-
We’re committed to organizing across communities and identities, which means language access is essential to our work. If you speak a language other than English, we welcome your skills for interpretation, translation, and cultural bridge-building. Language justice helps ensure every voice is heard and every community feels included in our movement.
-
Every movement needs people to carry the message. Our social media hype team helps us amplify actions, events, and victories by liking, sharing, and commenting on posts — and sometimes helping us dream up new content. Whether you're a digital native or just love telling stories, this is a great way to plug in and support from wherever you are.
These roles are just a starting point — if you have a skillset, passion, or idea that isn’t listed, we still want to hear from you. Our work grows stronger when more people bring their full selves into it. WashingtonCAN is a movement space with an open door — and you just might be the spark we didn’t know we needed to achieve progress for our communities.
