Housing with Dignity
Grassroots lobbying uplifts marginalized voices, advocating for policies that address the housing crisis and ensure fair, affordable homes for all.
In Washington State, rising rents, displacement, and homelessness have left too many families without stable housing. Washington Community Action Network fights for housing justice by uplifting the voices of those most impacted, ensuring that lawmakers hear directly from communities demanding affordable, equitable housing solutions.
Minimum Shelter Standards Legislation
Homelessness has reached critical levels, and too many shelters fail to provide the basic necessities for safe and dignified living. WashingtonCAN is lobbying for the Minimum Shelter Standards Bill this legislative session, which would ensure shelters meet essential standards for space, hygiene, safety, and accessibility. These standards are a humane and necessary alternative to punitive policies targeting homelessness. By lobbying for this legislation, we aim to create viable, dignified shelter options that address public health, support basic human needs, and provide a critical step toward ending the cycle of homelessness in our state.
